1. There MUST be a responsible adult (over 18 years old) to escort the patient home. The escort MUST come with the patient and then take the patient home.
2. Drink just enough water to swallow your pills. You may have a light meal 2 hours prior to surgery but no alcohol consumption 12 hours prior and 24 hours after the procedure.
3. Minors (under 18 years of age) MUST be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
4. Please wear clothing non-restricting to the neck and arms such as shirt, blouse or top.
5. Contact lenses MUST be removed prior to surgery appointment.
6. Please take your prescribed medication(s) as instructed by your physician, unless instructed otherwise.
Patients who have had Oral Anxiolysis should not drive and automobile or operate machinery for 24 hours. It is suggested that the patient should have a responsible adult stay with him/her for the remainder of the surgery day.
NOTE: In the best interest of our patients, the above instructions must be followed. Any instructions not followed may result in the cancellation of the appointment.
Under no circumstances should Intravenous Conscious Sedation be performed if you believe or think that you are pregnant. This could cause sever birth defects or spontaneous abortion of the child. To verify that you are not pregnant or if there is a question a pregnancy test at your personal physician’s office should be performed no more than 24 hours prior to the surgical procedure.
